Local cross country: Shiner CC meet- Lady Cards place second

Shiner Catholic School and Shiner ISD cross-country teams competed in the Shiner meet Saturday at Green-Dickson Park. St. Paul Varsity Girls St. Paul girls scored 58 points to come in runner up in the 1A-2A varsity, four points shy of winner Falls City.

Shiner volleyball: Shiner spikers conclude non-district with sweep of Fayetteville

The Shiner Lady Comanches volleyball wrapped up the non-district schedule last week with a sweep of Fayetteville. Shiner won the match convincingly, more or less, with set scores of 25-10, 25-15, 25-13.

Shiner football:Shiner loses last non-district game

It was not the most pleasant night for the Shiner Comanches Friday night against East Bernard. The Comanches closed the book on non-district play with a 49-6 loss to East Bernard.

Shiner cross country: Shiner cross country hosting meet Saturday

The Shiner Comanches September Cross-Country meet will be held this Saturday at Green-Dickson Park. There will be 45 schools and over 1,000 runners slated to compete in the meet. The varsity girls race will be start around 8:30 a.m. and the varsity boys race will at 8:55.

Shiner volleyball:Lady Comanches beat N-S, fall in five to Stockdale

The Lady Comanches won one and lost one in two non-district road matches last week. Shiner 3, Nixon-Smiley 0 Rylee Vancura scored 10 kills and Aimee Mitchon posted seven kills in Shiner’s 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-19) win against Nixon-Smiley on Sept. 5.

Shiner football: Poth rallies to hand Shiner 31-7 road loss

Down 7-3 to Shiner after one quarter, the Poth Pirates scored four unanswered touchdowns over the final three quarters, including two following Shiner turnovers, to send the Comanches home with a 31-7 loss. The Comanches (0-3) struggled with turnovers, turning the ball over four total times.
