Shiner football: Brooks, Comanches rout Indians 50-12

Dalton Brooks was a pretty busy guy on offense for Shiner against Ganado Friday in Ganado in the district opener. Brooks ran for 262 yards and four touchdowns, three of which were 50 yards or longer, and caught a 54-yard pass to see Shiner win 50-12.

Shiner volleyball: Lady Comanches snap out of haze in sweep of Louise

Following a loss at Fayetteville on Sept. 13 in and nothaving a game on Sept. 16, the Lady Comanches were in a little bit of a lull. Until their district opener Sept. 20 at home to Louise,Shiner rebounded and performed better as they blanked the Lady Hornets 25-13,25-16, 25-9.

Foundation to fix up Old Shiner Gym

More than nine decades have passed since Shiner residents first got to talking about building a top-notch competition gym, complete with an auditorium capable of seating more than 1,000 people all at once, to add to local public school facilities.

Student numbers up at SISD

If the increases in campus enrollment numbers for students attending Shiner public schools worked to tell members of the school’s board of directors any one thing Monday, it’s this: There’s a mighty good chance they will need to go before voters in May 2023 to try for a school bond election.

Shiner football: Comanches end non-district schedule with 49-7 win at East Bernard

Dalton Brooks rushed for 183 yards and three touchdowns to lead Shiner to a 49-7 win at East Bernard on Friday to conclude non-district action. Quarterback Ryan Peterson threw for 64 yards and a touchdown to Drew Wenske while running for 46 yards and a touchdown.
