Shiner football: Brooks, Comanches rout Indians 50-12

Dalton Brooks was a pretty busy guy on offense for Shiner against Ganado Friday in Ganado in the district opener. Brooks ran for 262 yards and four touchdowns, three of which were 50 yards or longer, and caught a 54-yard pass to see Shiner win 50-12.

Following a loss at Fayetteville on Sept. 13 in and nothaving a game on Sept. 16, the Lady Comanches were in a little bit of a lull. Until their district opener Sept. 20 at home to Louise,Shiner rebounded and performed better as they blanked the Lady Hornets 25-13,25-16, 25-9.
Shiner shut down the Brahmas of East Bernard in their final non-district game last Friday. Shiner opens district this Friday at Ganado.

Shiner football: Comanches end non-district schedule with 49-7 win at East Bernard

Dalton Brooks rushed for 183 yards and three touchdowns to lead Shiner to a 49-7 win at East Bernard on Friday to conclude non-district action. Quarterback Ryan Peterson threw for 64 yards and a touchdown to Drew Wenske while running for 46 yards and a touchdown.

Area cross country: Shiner girls win small-school varsity

Shiner and St. Paul cross-country teams ran in the Shiner meet at Green-Dickson Park on Saturday. Shiner won the 1A-2A girls varsity division while St. Paul Lady Cardinals took third place. St. Paul Varsity Girls The Lady Cardinals placed third in the  1A-2A division with 70 points.
