St. Paul football: 2022 Cardinal post-season awards

On the heels of their fifth straight season of playing in the state championship match, the St. Paul Cardinals had plenty of players make All-State and All-District. All-State Selected for the First Team Offense is lineman Carson McNabb, running back Zane Barta and tight end Josh Bonorden.

Shiner girls basketball: Shiner wins first district game of season against Weimar

St. Paul boys basketball: Cardinals go 1-1 in first two games

The Cardinals boys basketball team split their opening games last week. St. Paul 50, Cedar Park Summit 11 Joseph Twyford scored 13 points as the St. Paul Cardinals opened the season with a 50-11 win over Cedar Park Summit on Dec. 6. It was also St. Paul’s district opener.

St. Paul girls basketball: Lady Cards win district opener

Riley Mozisek scored a dozen points as the St. Paul girls basketball team won their district opener 35-22 at Austin San Juan Diego on Friday. St. Paul took an 11-4 lead in the first frame and ASJ went on a 7-6 run in the second quarter that left St. Paul ahead 17-11.

Area youth sports: Shiner youth volleyball team wins tournament

The Shiner Sweet Digs 11U volleyball team placed first in the Texas One Volleyball Tournament in Richmond on Sunday.

Shiner girls basketball: Lady Comanches win Goliad Tournament

The Shiner Lady Comanches claimed their second tournament trophy with four wins in the Goliad Tournament last weekend. Shiner pounded Gonzales 60-11; took care of host Goliad 47-37; beat El Campo 50-23 and won against Port Lavaca Calhoun 50-26.

Shiner girls cross country: Lady Comanches win All-State awards

Several members of the Shiner girls cross-country team received Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) All-State and Academic All-State teams. Sophomore Brinley Ramirez and junior Hayleigh Burns were named TGCA All-State CC Team.

Shiner girls basketball: Columbus sinks Lady Comanches

Rylee Vancura, Morgan Lenehan and the rest of Lady Comanches basketball had a good task of facing Columbus and their 6-1 post Ally Tribe. Tribe scored 16 points to lead Columbus to a 52-37 win over Shiner Dec. 6 at Shiner. Vancura and Lenehan led Shiner with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
