St. Paul alum graduates Victoria Fire Academy

Shiner Catholic School alumni Atley Pilat recently graduated from the Victoria Fire Academy and passed all his required state tests.  He is now a certified EMT and fire fighter.  Congratulations, Atley. You make your hometown proud!

Jacob Heck to split time between county's Catholic school bands

There’s a new leader of the band coming to Shiner Catholic Schools, and turns out, he’s the same fellow who helped lead the Sacred Heart Indian Band to the school’s highest point finish ever (405 points), earning them the runners-up title at last year’s TAPPS State Band Championship for Class 2A.

Shiner Baseball All District: Peterson, Wenske win MVP awards

The 2A state finalists Shiner Comanches won several spots on the 2022 2A-28 All-District Baseball team. Junior pitcher/infielder Ryan Peterson won Overall Most Valuable Player and junior infielder/pitcher Drew Wenske was selected as the Offensive MVP.

Little League update: Minor baseball, Major baseball, Junior softball win zone tournaments

The Minor (8-10) baseball team, the Major baseball team and Junior softball team all won their respective East Zone  tournament championships. 8-10 Softball (Yoakum) Shiner blanked Hallettsville 2-0 on June 20. They took on New Braunfels on June 22, rallying from a 5-0 deficit to win 13-5.

Catholic School work camp offers more than just a hard day’s work

What do you get when you take 60 kids, give them 18 separate work projects and then send them forth, all over town, on three of the hottest days yet this year to get it all done? Well, the answer to that question depends entirely on two items, really.
