Shiner softball: Maidens edge Lady Comanches 8-7 to split district series

The Ganado Maidens rallied from a 5-2 deficit in the sixth inning with six runs and then held Shiner to two runs for an 8-7 win.Maidens got three hits and took advantage of three Shiner errors to avenge a Lady Comanche win in Ganado earlier in the season.

Shiner track and field: Shiner TF sends two to state

The Shiner boys got fifth place and the girls took sixth place at the regional track meet last Friday and Saturday in Kingsville.GirlsThe Lady Comanches got sixth place overall with 33 points.JaMya Wright got second in high jump, reaching 5 feet, 2 inches.

Shiner baseball: Comanches rout Schulenburg

Shiner got payback on Schulenburg with a 10-run win, and defeated Weimar and Ganado in recent games.Shiner 11 Schulenburg 1Shiner collected 13 hits in a 11-1 victory over Schulenburg April 8 to split the season series.

Shiner golf: Shiner girls golf win passage to state for third straight year

The Shiner golf teams competed at the regional tournament April 16-17 at Corpus Christi’s Lozano Golf Course.The Lady Comanches are headed back to state for the third year in a row after a third-place finish.Callie Chrismon shot a 96 and 95 for 191.

The Shiner girls and boys track teams each won the area mee Thursday in Flatonia and are sending several athletes to regionals later this week in Kingsville.GirlsThe Lady Comanches won the 27-28 area title with 112 points with runner-up Weimar getting 103 points.
