Shiner girls basketball: 7th Lady Braves place second

The 7A Shiner junior high team got second place in the Schulenburg tournament on Saturday, falling to East Bernard in the final game.

Shiner youth volleyball: Sweet Digs 14U earns third place

The Shiner Sweet Digs 14U competed in the ACA#3 tournament Jan. 6 in San Antonio.  They won their silver bracket and placed third  out of 12 teams.

Shiner boys basketball: Shorthorns escape Shiner 53-50

For the Shiner Comanches boys basketball team, the effort is there but it needs to be combined with more experience. The Comanches were right on the heels of the Schulenburg Shorthorns late in the game Jan. 9 in Shiner but came up short 53-50. “We play hard and we fight hard.

St. Paul girl's basketball: Lady Cardinals rally to upend Waldorf

The Lady Cardinals needed a 25-17 second-half to avoid their first district loss, pulling away from Austin Waldorf 38-34 on the road Friday. The Lady Roadrunners led 16-11 after the first quarter and St. Paul scored two of the three points in the second box to trail 17-13 at halftime.

St. Paul girls cross country, girls track: Cerny to continue XC, track at Sam Houston St.

Her  discovery of an opportunity to compete at the college level was unusual, in her words. St. Paul senior Brooke Cerny will run cross country and compete in track and field next school year at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.

St. Paul basketball: Girls alumni team, current boys teams victors in SP alumn hoops games

The St. Paul girls and boys basketball teams hosted Alumni games on Jan. 2 with the alumni teams facing the current varsity squads. Girls: Alumni 53, St. Paul 41 2022 graduate Rebecca Wagner slotted home 10 points to lead the Alumni Lady Cardinals to a 53-41 win over the current team.

St. Paul girls basketball: Lady Cards JV get third in Moulton

The St. Paul Lady Cardinal junior varsity went 1-1 in the Moulton Tournament on Saturday to earn third place and played at San Marcos Hill Country Christian on Thursday. Moulton JV Tournament Moulton 24, St. Paul 17 Jenna Stock scored six points as St. Paul opened with a 24-17 loss to host Moulton.
