Memorial Day ceremonies to be held Monday

The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870, the Lavaca Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6382 and the American Legion Hudgeon’s Post 230 will host Memorial Day ceremonies on Monday, May 26 at the Sacred Heart Family Center located on S. Glendale St. in Hallettsville.

Veterans Appreciation Day Saturday

Veterans Appreciation Day will take place this Saturday at the Hallettsville Knights of Columbus Hall.The annual event marks its 21st year for honoring the veterans and doors will open at 11 a.m.At noon, a program ceremony will be held honoring the service of veterans.

The 21st annual Veterans Appreciation Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 12 at the Hallettsville Knights of Columbus Hall.Doors will open at 11 a.m. and a program ceremony will be held at noon honoring veteran’s service.

Shiner Catholic School honors Veteran with diploma

After 60 years, a Shiner veteran has received his high school diploma on Veterans Day.Vietnam veteran Klaus David Schlamb was awarded his diploma at Shiner Catholic School, which he attended years ago.

All Veterans Should Be Honored

Veterans Day events in Moulton area

There are a couple of Veterans Day events happening around Moulton.On Sunday, Nov. 10, there will be a Veterans Day service in Praha at the cemetery near the church there. The assembly will start at 10:30 a.m. followed by a flyover at noon.

Moulton welcomes Robert Nieto as new American Legion Commander

A local veteran, Robert Nieto, was named as the new commander of American Legion Post 392 in Moulton. He’s been the new commander for several months now“We’re a small group, we have less than 50 members,” Nieto said. “I’ve been doing a lot of recruiting and trying to get some younger ones in.

Local schools to hold Veterans Day events

Several school districts in the area are preparing for Veterans Day programs on Monday, Nov. 11.The Yoakum Junior High School will be having a Veterans Day program the morning of Veterans Day.“We are planning on a having a presentation,” Yoakum Junior High Principal Gabe Adamek said.

Local man reminds others of the importance of Veterans Day

Veterans Day is next Monday, and a local Vietnam Veteran, Larry Kupka, is a strong advocate for the importance of that day.“Veterans Day is a day that shows honor to folks that volunteered to serve their country,” Kupka said.
