Long-time member of the Lavaca Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6382, Chuck Grafe, was recognized Wednesday night, June 11 at its meeting for his meritorious and dedicated service to the organization. Anyone who has ever attended a Hallettsville or Sacred Heart High School sporting event, or Hallettsville Little League All-Stars games, have seen Chuck Grafe covering those events for the local newspaper.

Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 6-12 and this year’s theme is “Smoke alarms: Make them work for you”.The Hallettsville Volunteer Fire Department is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in promoting the week.
Lavaca County veterans have been asked to turn out at Monday's commissioners court in a show of support for the county's talks on hiring a new veterans service officer. A committee of local veterans was appointed last month and from what we hear, a nomination should be forthcoming at that meeting.

Veterans urged to come show support at county’s talks on local veterans service officer

A leader with a local veteran service group was urging former military personnel to join him at next week’s planned commissioners court meeting in Hallettsville in a show of support for the planned talks about appointing a local veteran’s service officer.

VFW Auxiliary covers large agenda at Nov. 8 meeting

The VFW Auxiliary to the Lavaca Memorial Post #6382 met in regular session on Nov 8 at Sacred Heart Family Center. The meeting opened according to ritual with 17 members present. Roll call of officers found all present with exception of conductress, pro-tem Doris Janak.
