VFW Auxiliary covers large agenda at Nov. 8 meeting
The VFW Auxiliary to the Lavaca Memorial Post #6382 met in regular session on Nov 8 at Sacred Heart Family Center. The meeting opened according to ritual with 17 members present.
Roll call of officers found all present with exception of conductress, pro-tem Doris Janak. Applications for membership for Kim Greenwell, Steven Micah Greenwell and Kara Jock were voted in.
Minutes were read and treasurer’s report given. Bills were presented. Communications read.
Wreaths Across America are $17 this year. They need to be ordered by Nov. 20.
District #24 meeting will be in Victoria #4146 on Dec. 2.
The Mid-Winter will be on Jan. 18-20. Six members will attend.
The Committee Chairmen gave reports: Veterans and Family Support. $4,542.50 in coupons was mailed off.
Please do not bring any coupons over two month expiration. A donation in memory of White Star Family which is a family that experienced a suicide.
Americanism Chairman reminded everyone about the raps of the gavel and their meanings.
Outreach chairman Evelyn Dixon turned in her resignation, as she will be moving. She will be missed as she did an outstanding job.
Buddy Poppy Day was held on Nov. 3. Six Auxiliary members and five post members were at several locations. A total of 550 poppies were distributed. Thanks to all who donated.
The Chaplain sent several sympathy cards.
The Legislative Committee thanked everyone who voted and those who helped at the polls.
The Hospital Committee delivered five birthday bags to veterans in nursing homes.
The Auxiliary has now achieved a 100% membership.
The Patriots Pen collected are ready for judges.
Yout — Female veterans spoke to local Girl Scouts about their service in the military. Cards were decorated for veterans.
In April the Auxiliary will host District #24 meeting.
The Fundraiser will be a No Bake Bake Sale. Please respond.
Audit report were given.
For the December meeting, Post members will furnish meat and the ladies asked to bring side dishes.
The meeting closed according to the ritual to be reopened Dec.13.
