Yoakum ISD swears in board members

The Yoakum Independent School District swore in board members and gave enrollment updates at the May 12 meeting. Those being sworn included Gary Colman and Amanda Fling.“These board members are all incumbents,” YISD Superintendent Tom Kelley said.

YHS student athletes were recognized at the Yoakum Independent School District (YISD) board meeting April 13.They were recognized for the 2025 All-State football season. “This whole room is proud of these guys,” Board member Glen Kusak said.

YHS Student Council enters Phase Four of Beautification Project

The Yoakum High School Student Council has been making some strides in their ongoing Beautification Project that they’ve been working on for the past three years.They are now on Phase Four of the project, which will be the completion of the project.

YISD school safety update

An update on school safety was given at the Yoakum Independent School District meeting March 9.“There were three campuses that have had their (intruder) audit visits so far, the Annex, Primary, and High School,” Assistant Superintendent Chris Kvinta said.

Yoakum ISD receives enrollment numbers, school updates

Enrollment numbers and the principal’s update were given at the Yoakum Independent School District board meeting Feb. 9.Current enrollment shows that there are 1,400 students. There are 447 students in High School, 278 in Junior High, 284 in Intermediate, 197 in Primary and 194 in Primary Annex.
Progress continues on the building outside of the baseball field that will serve as a concession stand with restrooms for the baseball field as well as the new softball field. The building will also have a storage area for equipment for multiple sports including football and track equipment. Project completion is expected this March.
