Yoakum softball: Lady Bulldogs win last two regular-season games

After losing two of three games during the week of April 10, the Yoakum softball team picked up district wins against Palacios and Tidehaven last week. The Lady Bulldogs will play Luling in the bi-district round in a one-game series at 6 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday) in Flatonia.

Yoakum track and field: Lady Bulldogs win third at track area meet

The Yoakum track team competed at the area meet April 19 in Seguin, qualifying 13 athletes to this week’s regional meet in Seguin. Girls The Lady Bulldogs scored 73 points to take third. 400 — 1st, Jayana Phillips, 59.80. 800 — 4th, Samantha Adamek, 2:29.94. 1600 — 6th, Gisela Martinez, 5:58.81.

Yoakum baseball: Bulldogs nine played three games last week

Last week was busy for Yoakum as they played three games and lost three games. Hallettsville 9, Yoakum 3 The Brahmas scored two runs in the top of the first and never looked back as they dealt Yoakum a 9-3 loss April 10 in Yoakum.

The Lady Bulldogs got a late score to win at Industrial and fell to Columbus at home last week.

Yoakum track and field: Lady 'Dogs, Dogs varsity earn silver at district

The varsity girls and boys track teams finished runner up at the district meet Wednesday in Tidehaven. Top four in each varsity event advance to the area meet today in Seguin (April 19). Varsity Girls The Lady ‘Dogs recorded 119 points for runner up. 400 Relay — 1st, Yoakum, 50.20.

Yoakum baseball: Yoakum downs Raiders 14-1

Ty Gordon got four hits, scored four runs and brought in one run; Garrett Green got four hits, three runs, two RBI, and Sutton Pavliska got three hits, triple, double and five RBI in Yoakum’s 14-1 win over Rice Consolidated on April 4.

The Yoakum softball team defeated Rice last week and took a tough loss to Hallettsville this past Monday, both home contests.

Girls soccer: girls soccer players win district awards

Several members of the Yoakum girls soccer team received All-District Awards. Cameron Williams was named Co-Defensive MVP. Gisela Martinez and Williams received First Team awards. Aubrie Jendrzey and Anna Ramirez earned Second Team honors.

The Lady Bulldogs improved on their district record last week with wins over Tidehaven and Edna. Yoakum 8, Tidehaven 1 A five-run fifth inning helped give the Lady ‘Dogs an 8-1 district win over Tidehaven at home March 28.

Yoakum produced the hits but just not enough runs. The Bulldogs hosted Tidehaven in a district game, coming up short 8-5. “Every district game we play is going to be a good game,”  Bulldogs head coach Karl Saenz said.
