YJHS students named to All-Region Band

Members of the Yoakum Junior High School (YJHS) Symphonic and Concert Bands competed against students from 16 other schools for a position in one of three AllRegion Bands. The YJHS Band had 18 students make the All-Region Band.

YHS students named to the All-State Band

The Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) is pleased to announce the selection of the 2024 ATSSB All-State Band. More than 10,000 high school band students from across Texas auditioned in 22 different regions for a place in their respective all-region bands.
Many YHS Senior Band members were on hand to accept the recognition from the Yoakum ISD School Board for the State Marching Contest held on Nov. 8, 2023 at the Alamodome for the second consecutive year. YISD calls for May election

The Yoakum Independent School District has officially called for a May 4 election at the Jan. 8 school board meeting. As of now, those that are up for re-election for their respective roles are President Glen Kusak, Vice President Terry Boening, and trustee Donnetta Sherrer.

YHS StuCo receives grant for campus beautification project

The Kluck Foundation, Inc. recently presented a grant of $10,000 to the Yoakum High School Student Council’s project “Bulldog Beautification.

YHS senior Zachary Taylor signs with Army

Yoakum High School (YHS) senior Zachary Taylor has the chance to be all he can be, on the football field and off as well as he recently signed with West Point Military Academy, commonly referred to as Army, to play football.

Trustees adopt SB 629 at YISD

The Yoakum ISD board of directors approved a policy update Monday that places lifesaving drugs like epinephrine or naloxone on school campuses across the district.

YHS StuCo begins beautification project

The Student Council Environment and Energy Committee began a community-wide campaign back in September to begin beautifying the high school.
