4-H enrollment is open

It is time to re-enroll in 4-H.
4-H is the largest youth serving organization in the United States.  Open to all youth who are at least eight years old and in the third grade through eighteen years of age, 4-H has something for everybody.
4-H projects fall in five main areas: agriculture and livestock; family and community health, leadership and citizenship, natural resources, and science, technology, engineering and math.
To learn about all of the wonderful opportunities that Texas 4-H has to offer visit the Texas 4-H website at https://texas4-h.tamu.edu and navigate to management.
On the management page scroll down to the 2021-22 Management Documents and in the middle of that section download the Texas 4-H Clover Annual Opportunities guide.
The 4-H years begins on Sept. 1 and runs through Aug. 31.
To prepare for the new 4-H year, enrollment opened on Aug. 15.
New third grade members are asked to wait until after Sept. 1 to enroll so that the system acknowledges that they are now of 4-H age.
To enroll, go to https://4honline.com.  If you are new to 4-H or to Lavaca County and are uncertain which club to join you can email natalie.knesek@ag.tamu.edu for a list of clubs.
4-H members will select a club and identify the projects they are interested in when enrolling.
Selecting a project is not a commitment but helps us know that they are interested.
Membership in 4-H is $25 until Oct. 31.  At that time, the enrollment increases to $30. If possible, please pay by credit card when enrolling, as this helps us process the enrollment quicker.
Members who choose to pay by check may have a delay in approval.
All adults involved with the 4-H program should also enroll.  The adult enrollment includes a criminal background check and trainings that help ensure that we are providing a positive and safe environment for our youth.
There has been an increased interest in Clover Kids in Lavaca County.
If you have a child in kindergarten through the second grade there are limited opportunities for Clover Kids to participate in educational activities.
Clover Kids are a non-competitive group and are limited on the projects that they may participate in.
This year in Lavaca County, clover kids will be invited to participate in the county-wide foods and nutrition, photography, health and personal safety, and fashion and interior design workshops and opportunities.
Enrollment is free for all clover kids. For more information about clover kids please reach out to me.
