Benefit Playday raises $5,000 for arena improvements

    Rodeo returned to Yoakum last weekend with a fundraiser playday that raised $5,249 for improvements to the towns aging public arena. Attendees enjoyed a costume contest, leadline, barbecue and several horseback events last Saturday, Oct. 29.

     

    Event organizers Kim Chandler and Brittani Richter said all event proceeds went towards improvements and equipment needed to enhance the Yoakum Rodeo Arena. Their long-term list of desired improvements included a roping chute, watering system, tractor and drag, 

     

    Chandler reported an encouraging turnout and overall “amazing day.”  She thanked attendees, sponsors and volunteers for making supporting the event.
