Halloween in Hallettsville
Pirates, football players, princesses and dinosaurs were among the trick-or-treaters that prowled through local streets in search of candy Monday night, Oct. 31. Hundreds of families joined in on Halloween festivities by collecting sweets from neighbors or opting to attend one of the many community events in town.
Local homeowners reported seeing an increase in trick-or-treaters relative to last year, continuing the return of Halloween since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
“I think there are even more kids this year than last year. A couple of years ago there really weren’t that many, but this year we are almost out of candy,” said Hallettsville resident Henry Joe Jasek while tending to trick-or-treaters from his porch.
Whether families went from home to home, visited the Friench Simpson Memorial Library, trunk-or-treated in the town square or celebrated elsewhere in Hallettsville, the Halloween spirit was alive and well Monday night.
