Lavaca Co. 4-H Photography Contest attracts 187 entries
The 2022-23 Lavaca County 4-H Photography Contest had 187 entries with 36 members and nine Clover Kids participating. The photography contest as part of the photography project gives members the opportunity to “learn by doing.” Members become acquainted with the types and parts of the camera. Emphasis in the project is placed on selection of the subject, understanding lighting, and improving visual appeal through composition techniques.
First place winners in the Junior (3rd-5th grade) and Intermediate (6th-8th grade) categories will advance to the District 11 4-H Photography Contest to be held in March. Senior (9th-12th grade) winners will advance to the State 4-H Photography Contest to be held in conjunction with Texas 4-H Round-Up in June. In the county contest, the top three places were awarded in each of the 15 categories for each age division. The remaining entries in each group were awarded either a blue, red, or white ribbon.
