St. Paul High School Robotics Team making strides

The St. Paul High School Robotics Team #19877 traveled to Buda on Saturday, Feb. 4 for the FIRST Robotics semi-regional playoff competition.  The team walked away with their top score of the season - 127 points.  They won three out of their five qualification matches, barely missing the cut-off to proceed to the finals.  In the end, they placed 14th out of 35 teams. This year’s game, PowerPlay, required the team to build and program a robot that could maneuver around the playing field, pick up plastic cones, and drop them onto yellow poles of various heights.  The FIRST robotics program motivates students to learn the engineering design process and programming and business skills such as graphic design, marketing, and fundraising. The TAPPS State Robotics competition is approaching on April 1, so the team is modifying and improving their design. The team would like to thank the Texas Workforce Commission and FIRST in Texas for sponsoring our team during the regular season. If you are interested in learning more about the robotics program at Shiner Catholic School or possibly sponsoring the team on their journey to TAPPS state, please contact Elaine Cesarz at ecesarz@shinercatholicschool.org.
