I have a little gold-framed picture on my mantle at home that is quite dear to me. The photograph is of Dr. Pat Wagner of Shiner and me. In the picture, we are posing proudly with Dr. Wagner's famed "Come and Take It" cannon. Wagner, better known to all as "Dr.

4-H Shooting Sports receives $500 donation

Lavaca County 4-H Shooting Sports received a generous donation of $500 from Mr. Warren Peloquin.  Lavaca County 4-H Shooting Sports is a program designed to teach lifelong lessons to youth.

Shiner High School students recognized

Shiner High School students have earned academic recognition from the College Board’s National and Rural Small Town Award.

Shiner Catholic School Fall Festival this Sunday

The Shiner Catholic School PTC will host the annual Fall Festival on Sunday, September 25 at the Shiner KC Hall. There will be a BBQ chicken meal, $12 per plate, which can be drive-thru or dine-in. The meal tickets are PRE-SALE only.

Shiner Catholic School hosts Grandparents Day parade

One of the best things to come out of COVID was the creation of the Grandparent’s Day Parade.  This is the third year that Shiner Catholic School hosted the parade which was led by Father Bryan Heyer as the Grand Marshall.

Shiner Lutheran Church hosting “Fifth Quarter”, GIFT gatherings

Fall programming for Shiner youth began with energy and excitement. The church hosts a “Fifth Quarter” for all 7th-12th grade Shiner youth following home Comanche football games. Decorations, a DJ, dancing, and games galore fill the hours following the football game until 11:30 p.m.
