The 170th Praha Picnic Friday, Aug. 15

The 170th annual Praha picnic will take place Friday, Aug. 15 with all activities to take place at the St. Mary’s Praha Catholic Church Parish grounds.

The church and picnic grounds are located at 821 FM 1295 near Flatonia.

The Pražská Pout, which is always held on The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary holy day will begin with the celebration of Mass at 10 a.m.

Serving of the picnic’s traditional meal that consists of Praha stew and fried chicken with trimmings will be begin at 11 a.m.

Dine-in and plates-to-go will be available at $15 per plate.

Activities scheduled throughout the day and evening include an auction starting at one p.m. and bingo games held from 2 to 6 p.m.

In addition a cake walk, country store, fish pond, and ring toss as well as souvenirs and a toy box will be available throughout the day.

An assortment of foods, including ice cream and beverages will also be available as well as hamburgers served after 4 p.m.

Three popular area polka bands will be on hand to perform throughout the day with Czech and Then Some performing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 3 to 5 p.m.

The Dujka Brothers will provide musical entertainment from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.

Closing out the evening, The Fender Bender Band will take the stage from 7 to 10 p.m.

The St. Mary’s Praha website says, “All roads lead to Maticka Praha on Aug. 15, where old friends meet and new friends are made.”
