Berckenhoff’s grand champ Key Lime Pie tops 119 entries to help raise $35,000 for local scholarships

Melissa Berckenhoff won grand champion pie Sunday, July 31, out of 119 pies entered in the 2022 Jamboree Pie Contest with her Key Lime Pie.

“Congrats to all this year’s winners and bakers for helping us raise a record-breaking $35,000 for local scholarships,” Chamber president Anna Bartos said. “Y’all, $35,000! Thank you so, so much to all the donors. We cannot do this without your continuous support. Wow! We are blown away!”

Thank you, too, to Helen Chaloupka for chairing the event once again this year and “caring so much about our youth to keep raising the dough, one pie at a time,” Bartos added.

Other winners in the 2022 Jamboree Pie Contest held Sunday included:

FIRST PLACE: Rose Bartos, Madison Rothbauer, August Bordovsky, Honey Lea Kram and RJ Traylor.

SECOND PLACE: Lisa Self, Kaylynn Traylor, Allyne Chapman and Barton Braeuer.

THIRD PLACE: Marc Hackstedt, Taylor Hackstedt, Claire Smolik, Elizabeth Smolik and Madison Rothbauer.
