Citywide cleanup a huge success

The City of Moulton, Moulton Chamber of Commerce and Bartek Salvage & Demolition put a serious dent in local refuse collections Saturday sponsored a city-wide cleanup.

City Councilmen Adam Nieto and Craig Hughes, along with Councilwoman Roberta Mejias were there to assist Chief Daniel Beyer with the cleanup day.

They have been supportive of Beyer’s efforts to clean up Moulton while enforcing city ordinances.

The City of Moulton and the Moulton Chamber of Commerce each paid for one of the four dumpsters provided that day. Bartek Salvage & Demolition donated two more dumpsters, the machinery, and three men to assist with the unloading of trucks and trailers.

Fifty-nine residents took advantage of the drop off site, with 25 of them bringing multiple loads. All four dumpsters were full by the end of the day.

This event was such a big success that another clean-up day is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 7.

“The City Council and Chief Beyer would like to thank the residents who participated in making the day a success,” said city administrator LuAnn Rogers. “And just a reminder to all that city ordinance enforcement will continue.”

Part of what made the city-wide cleanup event such a great success was that folks didn’t even have to get out of their car’s air conditioning to get their junk hauled off, said Chamber President Anna Bartos.

“You didn’t even have to get out of your vehicle,” she said. “The Bartek Salvage and Demolition crew, comprised of Tony Bartek and his boys, Brandon and Cooper, gladly assisted everyone in the disposal. They even hung out until 1 p.m. to help as many people as they could.”

A huge bunch of gratitude went out to Bartek Salvage and Demolition; city officials Adam Nieto, Craig Hughes, and Roberta Mejias; along with Chief Beyer, for hanging out at the tracks that day to guide residents. “We thank you all your efforts,” Bartos said
