DeWitt County Child Welfare Board prepares for upcoming event

DeWitt County Commissioner’s Court received a $5,000 request from the DeWitt County Child Welfare Board budget during its meeting Monday, June 26.

“We’ve got $,1,500 of the $5,000 for our rainbow room which we keep stocked for CPS case workers and investigators to go get items for children for hydrating products, diapers or wipes, things like that,” board president Kati Klores said. “We also are asking for $3,425 to go towards our foster children’s needs, when we purchase things like birthday gifts and Christmas gifts. And $75 will go towards our secretary and treasurer’s supplies.”

The DeWitt County Child Welfare Board is also hosting the first annual “Touch A Truck” event on Saturday, July 1, at the VFW Hall in Cuero. The event is free of charge, and starts at 10 a.m.

“We’re bringing in a bunch of different emergency management vehicles,” Klores said. “We got fire trucks, ambulances, and a helicopter coming in. This will be for the kids to climb through, honk horns, and learn about different vehicles.”

Comissioner’s also appointed Rachel Cox, Krista Dogan, and Rachel Barlow as the newest members to DeWitt County Child Welfare Board.
