Hallettsville Brahmas school board

The Hallettsville ISD Board of Trustees voted to allow superintendent Dr. Jo Ann Bludau to enter contract negotiations with SZS Architecture out of Bryan for the 2024 Bond Capital Improvement Project at a special called meeting Monday evening.

The board approved the schematic design as presented by Jon Singleton of SZS.

The work will be at the junior high and includes revamping the dressing rooms and building a practice gymnasium.

According to Jon Singleton of SZS, the work would begin next May and would take about 10 weeks.

The board agreed to hire Kolacny Construction of Hallettsville to do the concrete work at the elementary school.

Kolacny had the low bid of $48,750. Other bidders were Moreno Concrete (64,800), SAK Contractors ($68,900) and Glueck Concrete ($67,438).

The board set rental prices for Brahma Memorial Stadium.

The district will charge $2,000 for playoff games, up from $1,500. Sacred Heart will be charged $500 for football games and $500 if the school hosts a track meet.

The board accepted a bid from Longhorn Bus Co. for the purchase of four new school busses at a cost of $145,799 apiece.

The board also voted to move bond subsidy funds.

The district will also seek bids for groundskeeping services.
