M+14 Cookoff 2023 has another fine turnout

The Meisetschleager family held its annual M+14 Cookoff at Moulton City Park on Saturday, Oct. 14.

The event has so far raised a total of $60,800 in scholarships that have been paid out to 68 Moulton High school graduates since its inception in 2019.

It was the first time the three Meisetschleager siblings put on the event without parental influence this year. The annual Cookoff began as a tribute to their late father, Johnny.

This year’s event was a little different because the previous six years, it was just in memory of my dad. However, in February we lost our mother, so this is the first event in memory of them both,” Kristen Jahn said. “Last year, we raised a little over $24,000 in scholarships and this may have been our biggest year ever.”

There were 39 teams participating in this year’s cookoff, and 18 of those teams donated back their winnings.

M+14 paid out $3,225 to cookers, with $2,125 donated back to the scholarship program.

The event also held a silent auction that made some $10,910 from the sale of 106 items.
