Pipeline fire closes FM 2437

A pipeline fire Wednesday afternoon, July 9 caused major damage to FM 2437 causing the road to be closed.

According to a Facebook post from the Lavaca County Sheriff ’s Office and the Lavaca County Office of Emergency Management, the incident took place during the late afternoon at a location near CR 19, approximately 12 miles south of Sheridan.

The post said the roadway was closed from LCR 19 on the North End (Sheridan Side), and Wallace Road on the South End (Speaks Side).

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) assessed and repaired the roadway.

The road remained closed and was reopened for traffic on Monday.
