According to a press release from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, a 2011 GMC Acadia was stopped on I-10 at around 9:32 am, Friday, for a traffic violation by Drug Interdiction Investigator David Smith.

The driver had no driver’s license or proof of insurance for the vehicle. Smith also found that the vehicle was being operated with a fictitious license plate.

Upon receiving a consent to search the vehicle, Smith found a dark-colored ski mask, vehicle unlock tools, clear tape, a wedge pump, key fob, black disposable gloves, and a professional key tool.

The tools were located in a backpack on the floorboard of the car.

The driver, Yubier Darroman Hernandez, 36, and the passenger Yonlis Gil Menendez, 38, both of Houston, did not claim ownership of the tools.

Deputy Herman Olvera assisted Smith at the scene. Both subjects were arrested for Unlawful Use of Criminal Instruments Justice Center and turned over to jail staff.
