98th annual Tom Tom Festival Friday, Saturday
The 98th Annual Yoakum Tom Tom Festival is set for this Friday and Saturday with an assortment of entertainment taking place the City Park.
Starting Friday, the entertainment scheduled includes a Kiddie Parade to be held at 6 p.m. along with the start of the BBQ cook-off and the Lester Meir Rodeo that is set to start at 7:30 p.m.
Musical entertainment will also be available on Friday with Shiner’s Second Wind performing from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and followed by Little Texas from 9:45 to 11:15 p.m.
The event continues throughout the day and evening on Saturday, with the downtown parade taking place beginning at 10 a.m.
Registration for the Tomato Trail 5K run/ walk will take place at 7 a.m. with the race beginning at 7:30 a.m.
Other activities taking place in the park include a car show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m, and a continuation of a rodeo starting at 7:30 p.m.
Entertainers lined up for Saturday include the Black Cat Choir performing from 12 noon to 3 p.m.
They will be followed by the Cross Roads 33 Crue from 3 to 6 p.m. and The Tainted Heart Band clwsing out the night from 8 to 11 p.m.
There will be plenty of food and drinks, including vendors, food trucks, a biergarten, arts and crafts booths available throughout the day.
The barbecue cook-off will continue on Saturday with awards presented around 6:30 p.m. at the Main Stage.
The cost for the Tom Tom Festival in the City Park is $20 each day for a wristband. On Thursday evening, the Tom Tom Royalty Pageant will take place starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Yoakum Community Center.
The pageant will include five categories, including Little Princess and Prince; Little Miss and Mister, Young Miss, Junior Miss, and Miss Yoakum.
