Local cross country:Cross-country teams open in Yoakum
St. Paul and Shiner ISD cross-country teams ran in their first meet Saturday at the Yoakum Invitational.
St. Paul
Both St. Paul girls and boys opened the season with top 10 finishes.
Varsity Girls
The Lady Cardinals scored 199 points for eighth place.
Top St. Paul finisher was Brooke Cerny who was second overall in 8 minutes, 57.29 seconds. Frances Filip was No. 49 with 10:58.95 and following was Sally Machacek in 11:03.02. Nora Koch was No. 52 in 11:05; Julia Barecky was 66 with a time of 11:26.24. Eden Rodriguez was No. 75 in 11:58.61; Faith Brown crossed the finish line in 12:10.8 for No. 79. Mary Sue Filip was No. 88 in 13:37.10.
Varsity Boys
The Cardinals recorded 220 points to place ninth.
Joseph Davis led St. Paul with No. 16 in 13:22.76 and was followed by Gabe Darilek In 13:23.3. Alex Brown was No. 56 with 15:18.03; Hunter Zella was No. 68 in 15:49.96; Carter Chilek was No. 78 with 16:25.77; Nathan Timmons placed No. 83 in 16:47.51; Jackson Seibert was No. 98 in 20:07.69.
JH Girls
SLE won the JH girls race with 31 points.
Hayden Rother was second with 10:00; Anna Boedeker was eighth with 10:47; Emori Rodriguez finished in 11:19 for No. 10; Emma Marshall was No. 18 in 12:16; Reese Patek was No. 21 in 12:21; Barbara Jane Davis was No. 23 with 12:40; Tinley Wagner was No. 27 in 13:08 and following was Wren Chilek with 13:11. Hannah Machacek was No. 33 in 13:35, followed by Gracyn Kennedy in 13:35; Alaina Luedke was No. 38 in 13:38; Lynzee Garza was No. 40 in 13:48; Reese Chilek was No. 42 in 14:23; Harper Patek was No. 44 in 15:02; Ellie Rodriguez was No. 49 in 16:13.
JH Boys
SLE boys were third with 61 points.
Luke Barton was second with 9:23.47; Ryan Bays was No. 19 in 10:22 and was followed by Matthew Mozisek in 10:29.53; Paul Filip was No. 32 in 11:13.39; Elijah Rodriguez was No. 37 in 12:11.89 and behind him was Ayden McCord in 12:13.69. Eli Barton was No. 40 in 13:34.58.
Shiner
The Lady Comanches got a top 10 finish and the boys were top 15.
Varsity Girls
The Lady Comanches scored 200 points to take ninth.
Leading runner was Emma Joslin who was No. 28 in 10:23.28.
Callie Chrismon was No. 34 in 10:33.02; Erin Pustka was clocked at 10:36.86 for No. 37.
Megan Burns was No. 55 with 11:09.58; Eve Roberts was No. 66 in 11:45.84; Jo Caka finished in 11:54.14 for No. 74.
