Moulton softball: Kittens blank Spurger 27-0 in softball regional final

The Kittens raced to the regional title with 16 hits and took advantage of 14 errors to defeat Spurger 27-0 in the regional final on Thursday.
The Kittens will play Brookeland in the state semifinals today at 6 p.m. in New Caney (21580 Loop 494, New Caney).
The Kittens scored six in the first inning, seven in the second frame and brought in 14 runs in the third inning.
Bethany Kram pitched a shutout with no hits with one walk and seven strikeouts. Katie Richter made two putouts.
Three Kittens got three hits each — Taylor Self was 3-for-4 with one double four runs and four RBI; Araceli Vasquez hit 3-for-4, three runs, three RBI and Richter hit 3-for-5, three runs, double and two RBI. Kram got a double and triple on 2-for-3 batting.  Valeria Pinedo scored four runs with Abigail Siegel and Zurely Vasquez plating three runs each.
The Kittens successfully stole 19 bases.
