In a recent bulletin, Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPWD) has announced the creation of a new online community dedicated to recreational shooting as well as, educating people in the use of firearms for self protection. According to TPWD, “This online and offline community is for Texans interested in recreational shooting sports – including hunters, target shooters, clay/skeet shooters, archers, new and experienced gun owners and anyone else interested in safe, fun, responsible shooting.”

The purpose of this new community is to help members increase their proficiency with their weapon of choice and refine their skills while being around like-minded people who share a common interest. “You’ll find it can be a lot of fun and beneficial to be part of a shooting sports community,” TPWD writes.

Added information in the TPWD bulletin directs gun-owners to a list of places to find out more about the new community that will also be available on Facebook. Listed below are the things available to members.

Texas Shooting Sports E-newsletter – a free, quarterly e-newsletter with a variety of short articles, stories and videos for beginners and experienced shooters including: seasonal hunting information, tips on safe shooting and gun storage, advanced shooting sports, where to shoot and take classes, how to choose ammo, and more.

Enhanced information on TPWD’s website – check out the new enriched TPWD Texas Shooting Sports page.
