St. Paul cross country: It’s coming home! Lady Cards win state CC title

The 2A TAPPS girls cross country state title has come back home to Shiner.
The Lady Cardinals took first overall with 48 points and runner up Bryan St. Joseph scored 75 points Monday afternoon at Waco’s Cottonwood Golf Course.
This was the Lady Cardinals’ first state title since 2021 and third under head coach Nicco Brown.
Skylar Mozisek led St. Paul with third place with a time of 13 minutes, 26.4 seconds. Kristin Cerny was also top 10 with sixth place in 13:49.5.
Dallyn Pesek was No. 15 in 14:41.8; Frances Filip was clocked at 14:53.1 for No. 18.
Riley Mozisek was No. 25 in 15:32.8. Sally Machacek got No. 34 in 16:05 and Emma Marshall crossed the line at 16:32.3 for No. 41.
Varsity boys get sixth place
The Cardinals came in sixth place with 175 points.
Top finisher was Gabe Darilek who got No. 17 in 19:39.36. Andrew Nunez was timed at 20:39.77 for No. 30.  Carter Chilek got No. 58 in 22:42.68; Hunter Zella was No. 70 in 23:09.71; Jacob Arriola checked in at 25:09.31 for No. 90.
