St. Paul cross country, track and field: Brooke Cerny gets collegiate XC, TF career rolling in ‘24, ‘25

St. Paul 2024 graduate Brooke Cerny saw plenty of action in her freshman year of college in cross county, and track and field for Sam Houston State University during the 2024-25 school year.
Cross Country
Cerny ran in three meets during her freshman year of cross country for Sam Houston State University in the fall 2024 season.
Aug. 31 at the TCU John McKenzie Invitational, Sam Houston placed third of six teams with 82 points in the 5,000-meter run.
Cerny placed No. 30 overall with a time of 20 minutes, 12.7 seconds. She reached the first mile at 6:11.0 and the second mile around 12:48.7. Cerny’s pace was 6:30.3.
At the Texas A&M Invitational on Sept.13, Cerny was No. 99 with a time of 19:39.5, an average pace of 6:19 and her 2K/1.24 mile time was 7:22.9. Sam Houston scored 321 points to place No. 12.
In the Arturo Barios Invitational in College Station on Oct. 18, she placed 345 with a time of 23:44.4 in the 6K/3.73 miles, got to 2K/1.24 miles at 7:29.0, 3.2K/1.98 miles at 10:21.0 and 4.1K/2.54 miles at 16:06.4. Her average pace was 6:22.
The Lady Bearkats placed No. 36 with 972 points.
Outdoor Track 
Cerny competed in five outdoor meets, running the 800 in three meets, ran a leg on the 1600 relay in one meet and ran the 1500 in two meets.
At the Baylor 2025 Clyde Hart Classic on March 22, Cerny placed third in the 800 with a time of 2:20.44 and ran a leg on the 1600 relay that came in fifth place in 3:56.1.
Cerny placed No. 20 in the1500 with a time of 5:00.98 at the Cougar Invite April 5 in Houston.
At the 44 Farms Team Invitational in College Station April 11-12, she placed No. 14 in the 800 with 2:17.51, which is a personal best.
Cerny finished the 800 in 2:20 for No. 12 at the Texas A&M Alumni Muster meet on May 3.
At the Baylor Michale Johnson Invitational April 18-19, she placed No. 23 in the 800 with a time of 2:19.60, running the first 400 in 1:08.36 and the second 400 in 1:11.24.
Cerny placed No. 22 in the 1500 with a time of 5:00.67.
