St. Paul football: 2022 Cardinal post-season awards
On the heels of their fifth straight season of playing in the state championship match, the St. Paul Cardinals had plenty of players make All-State and All-District.
All-State
Selected for the First Team Offense is lineman Carson McNabb, running back Zane Barta and tight end Josh Bonorden.
Making First Team Defense is lineman Jackson Ulcak, Bonorden at linebacker and defensive back Trent Brown.
Chosen for Second Team Offense is Ulcak on the line.
Winning places on the Second Team Defense is lineman Jacob Seibert and linebacker Brayden Slaughter.
Receiving Honorable Mention Offense is lineman Joseph Twyford, running back Sam Perez and Brown at athlete.
Academic All-State
McNabb, Brown, Bonorden, Ulcak, Twyford, Matthew Wagner, Jacob Wachsmuth, Slaughter, Seibert, Tate Anders, Barta, Nate Boedeker and Nathan Timmons.
THSCA Academic All-State
Two Cardinals made the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Academic All-State Team sponsored by the Texas Army National Guard with over 4,500 players recognized.
Wachsmuth was one of 80 that made up the Elite Team and Twyford was one of 568 First Team Players.
All-District
Receiving First Team Offense is lineman Ulcak, McNabb and Twyford, athlete Brown, running backs Barta and Perez, and Bonorden at tight end.
First Team Defense winners are lineman Ulcak and Seibert; Bonorden and Slaughter at linebacker and Brown at defensive back.
Making Second Team Offense is lineman Anders, quarterback Wachsmuth, Boedeker and Slaughter at running back.
Second Team Defense honorees is Gage Anders and Twyford on the line; Barta and Boedeker at linebacker; Wagner and Timmons at defensive back, and Ulcak as punter.
Winning Honorable Mention Offense is Seibert (line), Alex Brown (running back), Charlie Pilat (tight end), receivers Vance Lucas and Carter Novak.
Picking up Honorable Mention on defense is McNabb (line), Gus Collins (linebacker), Holden Jacob (linebacker), Zeke Rodriguez (defensive back) and Perez (defensive back).
