St. Paul softball: SH scores late runs to get past Lady Cards
The St. Paul Lady Cardinals softball team fell to rival Sacred Heart in a district away game and fell to San Antonio Saints in a road non-district game in last week’s games.
Sacred Heart 18, St. Paul 8
After a back-and-forth game and an 8-8 score, Sacred Heart scored 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to send St. Paul home with an 18-8 loss April 1 in Hallettsville.
St. Paul scored three in the top of the first and the Indianettes plated four in the bottom of the frame.
Sacred Heart outscored the Lady Cardinals 4-1 in the second inning.
St. Paul got within 8-7 in the third and tied the game at 8-8 in the fourth inning.
At the plate, Lexie Ulcak was 2-for-2, triple and four RBI; Annie Werner hit 2-for-4, run, double and two RBI while Presley Tuch went 2-for-3, two runs, double and RBI.
Tatum Walker went 5 1/3 innings in the circle with 13 runs on nine hits, seven walks and four strikeouts. Werner went 1/3 inning in relief with five hits, five runs and two walks.
In the field, Addy Matias had eight putouts.

San Antonio Saints 6, St. Paul 2
With a narrow 3-2 lead going into the bottom of the fifth frame, the San Antonio Saints scored three runs to pull away from the Lady Cardinals in a 6-2 win Thursday in San Antonio in the third game between the teams this season.
Saints scored two runs in the first frame and outscored St. Paul 1-0 in the third inning.
The Lady Cardinals scored two runs in the top of the fourth.
Walker struck out 11 batters in six innings with eight hits, six runs, two batters hit and a single walk.
Kristin Cerny was St. Paul’s only multi-hit batter as she was 2-for-3. Emery Kennedy, Werner and Tuch all got a double with Kennedy getting two RBI. Tuch and Eden Rodriguez each scored one run.
In the field, Matias had two putouts.
