St. Paul volleyball:Pesek sees plenty of indoor, beach volleyball for UMHB as freshman

    St. Paul grad Cameron Pesek played plenty of indoor and beach volleyball during her freshman year at University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

    Indoor Volleyball
    Pesek played at right-side hitter and  took part in 10 matches during her freshman year 2022 volleyball season with the Lady Crusaders going 10-0 in those matches.
    In Sept. 1 opener against Howard Payne at home, Pesek had one total  attack attempt in one set in a 25-6, 25-14, 25-17 sweep.
    Pesek played three sets, two total attack attempts, one attack error, -.500 attack percentage in a 25-22, 25-15, 25-13 win over Centenary College (Louisiana) on Sept. 2.
    In a 3-1 (17-25, 25-13, 25-22, 25-21) win over Hendrix at home on Sept. 3, Pesek played one set, had one kill on total attack attempt, 1.000 percentage and scored one total point.
    In a Sept. 10 game against St. Joseph College of Maine in Houston, she played in three sets, had two total attack attempts, one kill, .500 attack and one point as UMHB won 25-11, 25-13, 25-9.
    In a 25-15, 25-20, 25-16 sweep of LeTourneau University Sept. 16 at home, Pesek played one set, one total attack attempt and .000 attack.
    Pesek took part in a road doubleheader at Howard Payne on Oct. 1.
    UMBH won 25-19, 25-20, 25-15 in the first match as she played in one set, one total attack attempt, one kill, 1.000 attack and one total point.
    In the second game, Pesek played in two sets, three total attack attempts, one kill, .333 attacking, one set error, one dig, one block assist, 1.0 total blocks and 1.5 total points as the Lady Crusaders won 25-18, 25-17, 25-15.
    UMHB swept McMurry University at home 25-21, 27-25, 25-17 Oct. 8 at home with Pesek playing in one set, two total attack attempts and .000 attacking.
    Against Sul Ross State on Oct. 11, UMHB won in four sets, 25-19, 25-12, 21-25, 25-10 with Pesek taking part in two sets, two total attack attempts, one kill, .500 attacking and one total point.
    Total stats for the season for Pesek: 15 sets played, 10 matches played,five kills, 0.33 kills a set, one error, 15 total attack attempts, .267 attacking. one set error, one dig, one block assist, one total block and 5.5 total points.

    Beach Volleyball
    During the 2023 beach volleyball season that ran from February to April, Pesek was paired with Brooke Grissom and with Shelby Broekhuizen.
    Her first action came against Corban University where she and Broekhuizen lost to Ridgway and Dennis 21-8, 21-8 in the line one match as UMHB fell to Corban 5-0 March 24 in Kingsville.
    On Feb. 25, Pesek and Grisson defeated  East Texas Baptist University’s Shelby Freudensprung and Nadia Brockway 21-19, 10-21, 15-11 in line five as UMHB won 4-1.
    Pesek and Grissom defeated ETBU’s Maggie Smitherman and Antonia Redfern 21-12, 12-21, 17-15 in the exhibition line as UMHB won the first of two matches 3-2 at ETBU on March 22.
    Pesek and Grissom fell in the exhibition line 21-19, 21-13 against Hill and Elrgil of Hendrix April 1 in Conway as Hendrix beat UMHB 5-0.
    Pesek and Grisson lost the line one match to ETBU (Reneau/Demuth) in Conway, Ark 21-7, 21-15 as the Lady Crusaders won the match 3-2 April 2.
    Pesek and Broekhuizen went 0-1 (0-1 in line 1) while Pesek and Grissmon went 2-1 (1-0 in line five, 1-1 in exhibition line).
