Yoakum boys basketball: Bulldogs battle, come up short against Brahmas and Tigers

Yoakum went 0-2 last week in district games at Hallettsville and Tidehaven.
Hallettsville 56, Yoakum 30
The Brahmas took a 10-2 lead in the first frame and cruised to a 56-30 win over Yoakum Jan. 3.
The Brahmas led 19-14 at halftime after a 12-9 Yoakum run in the second. Hallettsville went ahead 33-19 in the third quarter and outscored the ‘Dogs 23-9 in the fourth quarter.
Kade Giese led Yoakum with one triple and nine points.

The ‘Dogs led 13-12 after one quarter at Tidehaven on Friday before falling 61-44. The Tigers outscored Yoakum 14-8 in the second frame. Tidehaven scored 18 of 30 points in the third quarter and then held a 17-11 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter. Corey Gomez led Yoakum with 13 points and three triples.
