Yoakum cross country: Martinez wins place at state meet

Following the regional meet, Yoakum will have one competitor at the state cross country meet.
Boys
The Yoakum boys came in No. 16 in the team standings at the Region IV-3A championships on Tuesday.
Clayton Hlavac was No. 77 in 19 minutes, 5.52 seconds and had a pace of 6:10 a mile.
Brenten Jacob was No. 90 in 19:18.53 (6:14); Aiden Alvarez was No. 98 with 19:29.53 (6:17). Jesus Rivas was No. 113 in 19:51.72 (6:24); Rafael Castillo finished in 19:54.99 (6:25) for No. 116. Martin Perez was No. 126 in 20:10.39 (6:39).
Girls
Gisela Martinez came in at No. 20 in 12:56.48 (6:28) and has qualified for the state meet as an individual. She will run at 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 5 at Round Rock’s Old Settler’s Park.
