Yoakum cross country: Varsity runners earn team Bronze at La Vernia meet
The Yoakum cross-country teams competed in the La Vernia meet on Saturday with both varsity teams top three and four varsity runners in the top 10.
Varsity Girls
The Lady Bulldogs varsity scored 65 points to place third.
Two runners were top 10: Angela Flores was fourth with 13 minutes 21.30 seconds and a pace of 6:40. Gracei Martinez was sixth in 13:42.32 (6:51). Ximena Miller was No. 13 in 14:01.47 (7:00); Emmie Leftwich was No. 21 in 14:42.17 (7:21); Samantha Adamek finished in 15:07.31 (7:33) for No. 24 and Abbie Galvan was No. 26 with 15:17.45 (7:38),
Varsity Boys
The Bulldogs were also third with 72 points scored and two top 10 finishers.
Pacing Yoakum was Clayton Hlavac who was third with 18:01.87 (5:48), followed by Alvarez in 18:10.30 (5:51). Trevor Moreno was No. 16 with 19:31.27 (6:17); Martin Perez was No. 18 in 19:35.86 )6:18); Jesus Rivas took No. 34 in 21:51.71 (7:02) and following was Ian Pilat in 21:57.86 (7:04).
JV Girls
Dulce Lara was sixth in 15:56.63 (7:58); Aubree Hussey was eighth in 16:08.35 (8:04).
JV Boys
Brayden Neubauer was No. 14 in 25:24.10 (8:11); Nathan Vo earned No. 16 in 27:14.83 (8:46)
JH Boys
In the 7th grade race, Lukas Gonzales was sixth in 14:03.03 (7:01), followed by Benito Olmedo in 14:19.92 (7:09)
For the 8th grade boys, Adrian Blakeney was second in 13:23.99 (6:41), followed by Julian Espinoza in 14:21.98 (7:10). Dominic Novak was No. 13 in 15:59.24 (7:59)
