Yoakum girls basketball: Lady 'Dogs close out season at Edna

The Lady Bulldogs wrapped up the season with an away loss at Edna. Yoakum finishes 8-6 and fifth place in district.  The team bids farewell to seniors Deazia Rios and Raelee Schlegal.

Olivia Fojt bagged 10 points in the Lady ‘Dogs 51-42 loss to Edna to wrap up the season.
Fojt also had two assists, two steals, two rebounds. Jayana Phillips had eight points, five rebounds, three assists, three steals; Samantha Adamek had six points, 10 rebounds, one steal; Destiny Rios had six points, four rebounds, one steal; Addison Pekar added four points, four rebounds, Madison Gonzales had two points, seven rebounds, one assist; Deazia Rios had two points, two rebounds, two assists; Aaliyah Wildey had two points; Amori Harper finished with two points, three rebounds, one block; Taylor Velek had one rebound; Schlegal had one steal.
Tidehaven 55, Yoakum 24
Tidehaven used big runs in the first and third quarters to deal the Lady Bulldogs a 55-24 loss on Jan. 31.
The Lady Tigers led 19-7 after the first quarter and led 28-15 at halftime.  Tidehaven scored 17 of 21 points in the third and outscored Yoakum 5-4 in the fourth quarter.
Destiny Rios led Yoakum with six points and also had four rebounds, one assist, one steal. Emma Fling had one rebound, one assist; Gonzales had one rebound; Deazia Rios had four rebounds, one assist; Fojt provided two assists, one rebound, one steal; Adamek had seven rebounds, two blocks. one assist; Wildey totaled one steal; Taylor Velek had two rebounds; Phillips had two steals; Schlegal had one rebound, one steal; Harper finished with eight rebounds.
