Yoakum City Council provides updates, institutes ordinance

The Yoakum City Council gave an update on the Carl and Mary Welhausen Library Kick-Off event that happened recently at the June 10 meeting.“The Library Summer Reading Program got kicked off with the Bike Rodeo,” City Manager Michael Mitchell said. “They had an awesome turnout for that.

Library looks forward to summer reading program

The Carl and Mary Welhausen Library is preparing for its summer programs to include all ages of children and adults.Registration for the reading program begins on Thursday, May 22 and ends on Friday, June 13. Age groups include: 0-8, 9-17, and 18 and older.

Library cancels mobile hotspots

The Carl and Mary Welhausen Library is doing away with mobile hotspots for the unforeseen future.Mobile hotspots are a portable device allowing one to connect devices to the Internet using a wireless signal and are about the size of a cellphone.

Library has successful Summer Reading Program

The Yoakum Carl and Mary Welhausen Library had one of its most successful summer reading programs of all time.There was a total of 333 reading program participants with 104 adults, 27 teenagers, and 202 children ages zero to 12. People spent over 2,993 hours reading for the program.

Spring Break is fast approaching! The Carl and Mary Welhausen Library has many experiences to make the week entertaining and educational.The two big events (hosted by the library) include a Magic Comedy Show and Spring Fling Event.

January events at the library

The Yoakum Carl and Mary Welhausen Public Library is gearing up for several events and fun activities this January. Starting this Thursday, Jan. 18 at 10 a.m., the library will host the Dewey Kids Club Pancake Brunch.
