With all the focus given to finding Shiner firemen a new home, Shiner’s existing firehouse now finds itself in need of substantial repairs, department leaders have said for some months now. Spending money on a place you plan to abandon doesn’t make good financial sense.

Shiner firehouse bids rejected, again

Shiner city council is giving serious consideration to a local roundtable meeting that brings decision makers from the Shiner Fire Department and city together with key local business leaders and area building contractors to see if they can find a path forward in addressing its facility needs.

Machart completes basic at Lackland AFB

The Machart family of Shiner spent their first days of September over at Lackland Air Force Base, where they got to attend U.S. Air Force recruit Katie Machart’s graduation ceremony from basic training. Katie, a member of Shiner High School’s Class of 2022, is already an E-2 in rank.

On Point Barbecue brings home another big win

Shiner’s Justin and Karen Fortune, pictured above with their Reserve Championship Award, brought home several top awards for their competition barbecue cookoff team, On Point Barbecue, after they traveled to Victoria’s inaugural Sombrero Festival held last weekend at that town.
