Yoakum boys soccer: Bulldogs lose district opener to SA Memorial 7-0

It was not that great of a start to the district season for Yoakum’s boys soccer team. The Bulldogs were blanked by the San Antonio Memorial Minutemen 7-0 Friday night at Bulldog Stadium. SA Memorial tallied three goals in the first half and complemented with another four in the second.

Yoakum girls soccer: Yoakum ties San Antonio Memorial 0-0 in district opener

Yoakum had the lion’s share of scoring chances but could not get one in the back of the net. The Lady Bulldogs soccer team kicked off their district schedule with a 0-0 score Friday evening against San Antonio Memorial at Bulldog Stadium. Yoakum was scheduled to play its first district game on Jan.

Yoakum boys basketball: Brahmas survive Bulldogs 55-51

In recent games, Yoakum has been in a position for a win but unable to close the deal.   Last Friday at home against the Hallettsville Brahmas,  the Bulldogs had a 51-47 lead with just under three minutes left in the game. The Brahmas went on a 8-0 run to take a 55-51 victory.

Yoakum girls basketball: Lady Bulldogs edge Hallettsville in thriller

It was a no-holds barred affair when Hallettsville Lady Brahmas visited Yoakum on Friday. The Lady Bulldogs pulled off a small fourth-quarter rally to take a 38-36 win. “From start to finish, on both offense and defense, “ Lady Bulldogs head coach Ashton Phillips said.

Yoakum boys basketball: Bulldogs put together good win against Rice

The Yoakum Bulldogs put together a great game performance in a 72-54 win over Rice at home Jan. 17. It was the second district win in three games for the team. “That was one of our best games this season,” Yoakum head coach Gary Garvin said. “We hustled and we got after it.

The Yoakum Lady Bulldogs used a total-team effort for their third straight district win. Jayana Phillips netted 17 points and Olivia Fojt added 10 points as Yoakum downed the Rice Lady Raiders 62-22 Jan. 17 at Bulldog Gymnasium. “We played as a team.

Yoakum girls basketball: Lady Bulldogs snare Lady Cobras 51-44

Jayana Phillips sank two dozen points and Destiny Rios dropped in 13 points to lead  the Lady Bulldogs to a 51-44 district win at Industrial on Friday. Yoakum took a narrow 12-10 lead at the end of the first quarter and Industrial went on a 11-7 run in the second quarter to lead 21-19 at halftime.

Ground crews still investigating yesterday’s plane crash near Yoakum

One day after a single prop plane from out of state crashed into a field not far from the Yoakum Regional Airport, their intended destination, officials have released additional information about the Jan. 17 crash.
