Voters in the Yoakum school district approved some $31.7 million in proposed school bond projects Saturday, unofficial election night returns showed, but narrowly defeated a fourth and final measure that would have brought about several improvements to the school’s football stadium.

Yoakum track and field: Yoakum sends five athletes to state track meet

The Yoakum track and field teams competed in the regional meet Friday and Saturday in Yoakum. Jayana Phillips qualified for state in the 400-meter dash and the triple jump while the Yoakum boys 400-relay team of Jayden Jones, Zach Taylor, Qyion Williams and Kadarius Price will also head to state.

Yoakum track and field: Lady Bulldogs win third at track area meet

The Yoakum track team competed at the area meet April 19 in Seguin, qualifying 13 athletes to this week’s regional meet in Seguin. Girls The Lady Bulldogs scored 73 points to take third. 400 — 1st, Jayana Phillips, 59.80. 800 — 4th, Samantha Adamek, 2:29.94. 1600 — 6th, Gisela Martinez, 5:58.81.
