Inmate baptism provides hope for those incarcerated

Eight inmates and a Lavaca County jailer were baptized Friday at the Lavaca County Jail as part of an ongoing effort to expand faithbased programs for those incarcerated at the facility.

Sheriff hosts jailer training for five counties

Melvin Bowser with the Texas Commission on Jail Standards presented inmate suicide prevention course for jailers, part of the training hosted by Lavaca County Sheriff’s Office for 58 jailers from Lavaca, Calhoun, Jackson, Gonzales and Fayette counties last week.
