Hallettsville council members recently heard from city administrator Grace Ward about some violations to city zoning ordinances that she recently uncovered while conducting those inspections herself for the first time, violations that had long existed if those city codes were to be enforced.

Alice Jo Summers will retain her role as mayor of Hallettsville, voters decided Saturday. Summers faced a three-way race for the city’s top elected position, with challenges coming from councilwoman and mayor pro-tem Cindy Renken and Hallettsville resident Gordon C. Clark.
