TDEM Conference set for May 28-31

The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) will hold its convention on May 28 through 31 at the Fort Worth Convention Center.Nominations to honor first responders who have passed away in the last year are being requested and will be displayed in a memorial at Conference.

Beekeepers visit Outsider’s 4-H Club with honey from DeWitt and Lavaca counties

Outsider’s 4-H heard an informative presentation on beekeeping from Robert and Stephanie Fojtik, of Moulton, on March 17. The Fojtiks spoke about how bees work, how to collect honey, what to do if you are attacked by bees, how much money you can make in beekeeping, as well as how much time it takes.

DeWitt County Commissioners approved a resolution authorizing the submission of an application to the Texas General Land Office for the Community Development Block Grant-Mitigation at the April 8 meeting.The grant is in the amount of $1.
A large group of members belonging to various organizations and agencies who assist in helping children and families of child abuse were present at Monday’s Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court meeting. During the meeting the court designated April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. According to the proclamation read by County Judge Keith Mudd at the meeting, approximately 270,000 children in Texas, and 162 Lavaca County children were reported as victims of child abuse in 2023.
