Bingo set at local nursing/rehab centers

The two local nursing and rehabilitation centers are sponsoring bingo games at their respective centers during the next two weeks. Hallettsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, located at 825 Fairwinds, will host bingo games today (Nov. 21) from 2 to 3 p.m.

Bid awarded for back parking lot

A bid was awarded for electrical and lighting for the parking lot east of Hallettsville High School at the regular meeting of the HISD Board of Trustees Monday. Weaver & Jacobs Constructors, Inc. received the bid. The bid for the parking lot and footings was $62,650.

Chamber seeks nominations for 2023 Citizen of the Year

The Hallettsville Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture is now accepting nominations for the 2023 Citizen of the Year and Hospitality Awards. Forms can be requested by calling the Chamber at (361) 798-2662 or picked up at the Chamber Office located at 1614 N. Texana St.

Fall Beef Program planned for Nov. 28

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Lavaca County will hold a Fall Beef Program on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville. Registration will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the program starting at 6:30 p.m. This program will offer 2 CEUs for pesticide license holders.

Local man on Wheel of Fortune

A local man had the opportunity to be a guest on Wheel of Fortune. Lee Mack Turner, who lives between Shiner and Yoakum, won $7,700 when he was on the show Sep. 7 in Los Angeles. The show aired on television Nov. 8. “It was very exciting. I hit several bankruptcies in the beginning,” Turner said.

LCRA awards $25K grant to Hallettsville Lions Club

The Hallettsville Lions Club will install a new shade canopy over the playground equipment at Hallettsville City Park thanks to a $25,000 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and the City of Hallettsville.
