11th Annual Shiner Junior Livestock Show this Saturday

The Shiner Junior Livestock Show will be holding its 11th annual Livestock Show at the Arthur Kaspar Pavilion on Saturday, November 18. Forty-six exhibitors will be showing steers, swine, lambs, goats, rabbits, and broilers.    The day will kick off at 7 am with check-in of all animals.

52nd Annual Cardinal Booster Club Turkey Shoot set for Sunday

Everyone is invited to Wied Hall this Sunday, November 19 for the 52nd Annual Cardinal Booster Club Turkey Shoot.   The event begins at 10 a.m.; Turkey Shoot sign-up begins at 9:30 a.m. A Kettle Fried Chicken Breast Dinner will be available from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.

RWOYA Constitution essay contest winners named

The Republican Women of the Yoakum Areas announced the winners of its 15th annual Constitution Essay contest at the Yoakum Community Center on Wednesday, Nov. 8. The winners were chosen from school districts in Lavaca, DeWitt, and Gonzales counties.
The top three selling scouts are shown with their leaders. Shiner Cub Scouts have a "Popcorn Party" to celebrate popcorn sales

Shiner Cub Scout Pack 231 had their “Popcorn Party” to reward the scouts for all their hard work selling Trail’s End Popcorn this year.  The pack sold $20,000 worth of popcorn to raise money to help pay for awards, activities, and campouts.

Veterans Day programs set throughout the area

Veterans Day is Nov. 11 and with the day falling on a Saturday area schools as well as the two nursing and rehab centers in Hallettsville will be hosting events to honor the veterans on different dates.

How Will St. Mark’s closure impact us?

Three weeks ago (Oct. 12), St. Marks Hospital in La Grange closed its doors due to facing an enormous amount of debt. According to a report from the Fayette County Record, the hospital closed down due to financial struggles from facing over a $13 million in debt.
