Fugitive jailed after river runaway attempt

A routine traffic stop turned into an endurance race for a Hallettsville police officer when the man he pulled over dove out of his vehicle and took off running just as the sun began to set last week.

The Shiner Gazette snapped this frame in early 2021 at another fundraiser held by the Shiner Volunteer Fire Department. They'll be getting together again on Sunday, Sept. 18, to serve up some of the best barbecued chicken you'll find. See you there!
